Saving Grace Announces Purple Light Nights

Businesses and individuals throughout the area are invited to participate

Bend, Oregon: October is National Domestic Violence Month. Governor Kulongoski has signed a proclamation encouraging all Oregonians to join in this observance, and Saving Grace (formerly Central Oregon Battering and Rape Alliance) will hold several events and a Purple Light Nights™ campaign to show the community that domestic violence has no place here!

Purple Light Nights™ is a national awareness campaign during which time individuals and businesses shine purple lights for the month of October to remember victims and honor survivors of domestic violence. Saving Grace will be selling strings of purple lights in Bend, Prineville, and Madras so that each community can show support.

In 2008, Oregon domestic and sexual violence prevention programs like Saving Grace served 55,547 adults, teens, and children.

In Madras, trees will be strung with purple lights and a lighting ceremony will take place at 6pm on October 1st at Sahalee Park. In Prineville, businesses can purchase strings of lights for storefront windows and a lighting ceremony will take place at 7pm on October 6th in front of the Crook County Courthouse.

Saving Grace will also be selling purple lights and raising awareness about domestic violence during the October 2nd Art Walk in Downtown Bend. Come visit us in front of tbd Advertising on Bond Street where you can purchase purple lights, glow sticks, and more to honor victims and survivors of domestic violence. All proceeds will benefit Saving Grace domestic violence services such as our 24-hour hotline, and our confidential shelter.
