Volunteers
Saving Grace was begun as a grassroots organization in 1977 by volunteers dedicated to helping domestic and sexual violence survivors in Central Oregon. We continue to be able to serve survivors of abuse with the help of our staff and dedicated volunteers.
The mission of Saving Grace is to provide comprehensive family violence and sexual assault services and to promote the value of living life free from violence. In addition to providing domestic violence and sexual assault services, Saving Grace provides community education to break the cycle of violence. We serve a population of 186,000 from offices located in Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties.
Last year, over 300 women and children stayed at our shelter, and nearly 4,000 individuals received services from Saving Grace. Volunteers and staff answered nearly 2,500 calls to the crisis line in 2006. Families receive shelter, emotional support and assistance throughout the tri-county region. Volunteers are an important part of our success in reaching out and helping others.
We welcome both women and men to become involved.
